New piracy system for Nintendo handheld given clearance to pimp wares on social networking site
Social networking site Facebook has allowed advertising for a new piracy-enabling R4-style card on its pages.
Ads for the DSTT card appear on profiles of subscribers to the site who have shown an interest in gaming. Like the R4, the DSTT allows consumers to download pirated DS games via a Mac or PC onto an SD card, which then slots into the adapted console.
The card does not work with the new DSi, but MCV understands that new version of both cards – the DSTTi and R4i – are already on the market.
A Nintendo spokesperson told MCV: “Nintendo takes protection of its IP very seriously and we will examine this to determine if IP infringement has taken place.”
Facebook would not comment at the time of going to press.
The UK trade joined Nintendo in MCV to call for a UK ban on the cards’ sale last summer.
The Tokyo District Court in Japan granted an injunction against the sale of DS ‘piracy aids’ in February – effectively banning the country’s retailers from stocking them.
The cards are still freely available on eBay, but have finally been pulled from Amazon’s marketplace after a complaint by a third party.

I own a DS and it’s hard pressed once you find something like this to not buy one. This thing not only allows you play rom’d games, it allows you to play videos and mp3′s. It makes the DS, in my eyes, worth so much more. With the release of the DSi, you can access the web via opera mobile pre-installed on the unit. If you add in full multimedia capability i really think you have something here. Now I’m not going to post any links to where you can purchase this unit or where you can get the rom’d games but I’m also not going to ask you not to explore the possibilities of a unit like this.
I found a review of the product and I definitely think its worth a look.

Associated Press Reports:

SEATTLE — Apple Inc. is apologizing for allowing a 99-cent iPhone game called “Baby Shaker” that let a player quiet a virtual crying infant by shaking the device.
Apple removed the program from the iPhone’s App Store on Wednesday, but critics pressed for an apology Thursday.
Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris said Thursday that the game was “deeply offensive” and said it should not have been approved for sale.

“We sincerely apologize for this mistake,” Kerris said in a statement.
Apple approves the programs that outside software developers make available in the store. “Baby Shaker” came from a company called Sikalosoft, which has not commented.
The game asked players to see how long they could endure a baby’s cries and then shake the phone to stop the wailing.
Sony’s new PSP at E3?

Well after many discussions and rumors more details are starting to circulate about the new version of the PSP that’s supposed to debut at the electronic gaming expo in June. Idea’s like touch screen, hidden keys, and dual analog sticks are things that are being thrown around but the only thing that’s known is that it’s going to be UMD free. This move is a huge step toward Playstation Networks download service.
Hardware wise, the PSP has been very competitive with sales but with the latest release of the of the Nintendo DS, the DSi, and Apple’s latest commitment to the gaming realm Sony is looking for ways to make the PSP more attractive. Sony has leaked that it is going to take many idea’s for the new PSP from their somewhat successful Wi-Fi gadget the Mylo 2. This device wasn’t very successful in the US but had impressive sales in Japan, similar to the way the Minidisk devices sold several years ago.
Two versions of the new PSP are said to be released. An 8GB version and a 16GB version. You know as well as I do that the 16GB version will have something else on it or in it that will make it a more attractive purchase other than just additional space.
My question to you is the lack of physical media a smart move for Sony at this juncture. Is society in a place to be able to DL all or any of their games? And what about the people who already own a PSP and want to upgrade to the newest version? What happens to their old games? Do you have to use your old PSP to play them or will there be a way to add them to your PSN account so you can download them onto your new PSP. I guess these will be the questions that Sony will have to answer at E3 this summer.
