Zero Punctuation: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

by saberwolf on Dec.01, 2009, under FPS

…well it’s been awhile, so i probably should get caught up. To get this blog-ball rolling again i figured I’d steal a page from Yahtzee over at The Escapist. Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2 (CoD:MF2) smashed all the records when it came to FPS sales on opening day (over 7 million copies worldwide), making Halo 3 look like the latest in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. So does the game live up to all the hype?

1UP writes: “Mixing real-world locations with bombastic set-pieces MW2 continues the guided, thrill-ride experiences of its predecessor, and adds even more depth to its multiplayer offerings. It might not have fixed all the problems from the first game, but there’s just so much quality content packed into this game that it will almost certainly be one of the most-played games in your library for a long time to come.”

…lets see how Yahtzee feels about this game:

Activision’s Fall Concert

by admin on May.08, 2009, under Music

Activision is going overboard this fall with a slew of titles from their “Hero” series. Guitar Hero 5, which brings drop-in drop-out play to the franchise, as well as the ability to change instruments and difficulty on the fly. Band Hero, which should be an excellent rip-off of Rock Band with an E10+ ESRB rating for complete family fun. Guitar Hero: Van Halen, which will be the 3rd installment of “band exclusive” series of Guitar Hero games. And the most interesting, DJ Hero, which should introduce a whole new crowd to the genre.

Activision reports:
“The company’s groundbreaking DJ Hero expands Guitar Hero’s signature social gaming to all-new consumers with the addition of diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance. Introducing an all-new innovative turntable controller, DJ Hero transforms players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world’s most exciting artists and DJs.”

The slated controller looks pretty interesting. 3 buttons on a classic turntable chassis. I’m really excited to see how they interface the control scheme in the game. The possibilities are endless with this setup. Imagine if they allow you to mix your own songs or even scratch however you want over the preloaded songs. Expect this to be released on all the major consoles so no one will miss out on the fun.

classic~!
