Gaming mods have played such an important role in the development of gaming world. Some of the most popular games in the world today started as mods to other games. The idea behind it is to take a game that everyone loves and transform it into something different that keeps you playing that “same old game”. Now, some mods totally revamp the original structure while others just tweak the game you’ve been playing for sometime. Have you ever wanted to play gears of war on the PC totally in first person? There’s a mod for that: GoW:FPS:Carmine Chronicles Hell, some mods out there are mod’s of other mods. I couldn’t name a person who has player Counter-Strike but hasn’t played a Gun-game map. i know some people who live and die on Zombie Mod on either CS:1.6 or Call of Duty WaW.

Well needless to say, some mods that are developed aren’t always designed to make the game “better”. Some are made to put a funny twist on things and this week GameSpy comprised a list of “The Six Most Bizarre Gaming Mods” currently being played. it’s definitely worth a read and a laugh.

…I honestly don’t know how i feel about Zombies’ “Snapping into a Slim-Jim”

And so it begins

Ahh yes, this has been a work in progress for some time and we finally got it all together.  I’m playing catch-up mode for the first post, so I’m just going to start with some links to things that I’ve seen in the last week or so to get the blog going.

Obama on XBox

Obama on XBox

-On the odd side of things, Barack Obama is using XBox360 to help get elected.  His campaign purchased an ad in the EA game Burnout Paradise. This seems like a pretty odd way to campaign, but maybe it’ll catch on more in the future.

-Blizzcon was over the weekend, and a lot of new information was released about Starcraft II and Diablo III. Wrath of the Lich King was also a topic of discussion, but being as close to release as it is, not a ton of new information was revealed. Major highlights include the new Wizard class for D3 and the odd announcement that SC2 will be released as 3 separate games, each with full length campaigns. It’d be impossible for me to try and post all the info.. this was something I would have been blogging about as it happened. Next time. For now, check out all the juicy details over at Blizzard’s Blizzcon Coverage page.

-Finally, the Call of Duty 5 Xbox360 beta has started. Currently only family and friends are participating but invites should be going out soon to community members. Pre-ordering the game looks to guarantee you a beta key eventually. Also, the PC Beta should be starting up soon. Check out all the details on the official site here
