Starcraft II Beta Sign-up’s Open

by admin on May.07, 2009, under RTS

Well for all you gamers ready to quit life and play starcraft II the day may be sooner than you think…

Blizzard has officially opened up the StarCraft II beta opt-in, according to a new post on the World of Warcraft site. “The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you’d like a chance to participate, now’s the time to let us know. Simply go to the “Beta Profile Settings” page in Battle.net account management to go through the new beta opt-in process and upload a snapshot of your system specs. During this process, you’ll also have the opportunity to opt in to future betas for other Blizzard Entertainment games. Please note that even if you’ve opted in to our betas previously, you’ll need to complete this new process and upload your current system specs to have a chance to be invited.”

Blizzard’s SC2 beta FAQ explains that the North American beta test will begin first.

If you remember back when WoW went into beta testing the retail release wasn’t far behind… we can only hope this is the same.

Video Teases WoW Players with Client For the iPhone

by admin on May.01, 2009, under MMO

Hate to leave your house to visit your dad in the hospital after a horrific car accident because you don’t want to miss that raid that’s scheduled tonight? Well if all goes well with Vollee, a company working on a port of Second Life for the iPhone, you won’t have to. Now, news of such an act makes me smile while also making me disgusted at the same time. You thought kid’s texting while they were driving was bad? How do you think this is going to turn out?

better use the stylus...
better use the stylus…

The legitimacy of this video is still in question because their has been people in the past who have seemed the game through their iPhone using something similar to a VNC, but this only shows how the crack that’s known as WoW will eventually take over every gamers life…

And so it begins

by Derek Staley on Oct.14, 2008, under Uncategorized

Ahh yes, this has been a work in progress for some time and we finally got it all together.  I’m playing catch-up mode for the first post, so I’m just going to start with some links to things that I’ve seen in the last week or so to get the blog going.

Obama on XBox

Obama on XBox

-On the odd side of things, Barack Obama is using XBox360 to help get elected.  His campaign purchased an ad in the EA game Burnout Paradise. This seems like a pretty odd way to campaign, but maybe it’ll catch on more in the future.

-Blizzcon was over the weekend, and a lot of new information was released about Starcraft II and Diablo III. Wrath of the Lich King was also a topic of discussion, but being as close to release as it is, not a ton of new information was revealed. Major highlights include the new Wizard class for D3 and the odd announcement that SC2 will be released as 3 separate games, each with full length campaigns. It’d be impossible for me to try and post all the info.. this was something I would have been blogging about as it happened. Next time. For now, check out all the juicy details over at Blizzard’s Blizzcon Coverage page.

-Finally, the Call of Duty 5 Xbox360 beta has started. Currently only family and friends are participating but invites should be going out soon to community members. Pre-ordering the game looks to guarantee you a beta key eventually. Also, the PC Beta should be starting up soon. Check out all the details on the official site here
